Staples for the Spring Wardrobe

The sun’s rays are getting warmer, days are getting longer; winter’s long-frozen ground is finally beginning to thaw. With the change in seasons upon us, it is time to shift our cold-weather closets towards fashions more suited for spring and summer. Here are a few ideas to update your spring wardrobe, including one of Belvedere’s best selling loafer shoes.
Loafers
Incorporating a pair of loafers into your shoe collection is an ideal way to, quite literally, step up your spring fashion game. The popular laidback shoe can be found in a variety of different styles, such as penny, tasseled, horsebit, or kiltie loafers. At Belvedere, we did our own twist on the classic loafer with the Luis Shoe. Linen
Cut isn’t the only important thing to keep in mind when changing your wardrobe for spring; material can have a significant impact on how well a garment wears. Opting for clothing made from lightweight, absorbent textiles such as linen will make the transition to mild weather much more comfortable. Derived from the flax plant, linen is a durable natural fiber that tends to retain its texture better than cotton. Hailed for its moisture wicking capabilities, linen shirts and pants are an excellent choice when trying to keep the body cool as the weather changes.
Denim Jacket
First created in 1880 by famed designer Levi Strauss, the denim jacket has remained both a fashion and cultural staple throughout the 20th Century until today. One of the reasons for this is the jacket’s versatility; the right one can be layered with a sweater and overcoat while the weather remains cool, and just as easily thrown over a simple t-shirt once it warms up. While found in a plethora of washes and styles, simple designs by outfitters such as Levi’s or Wrangler remain classics for a reason.
Sunglasses
Perhaps no item says ‘warm weather’ more than a modern, smart pair of sunglasses. While intended to protect the eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, the many different makes and shades of sunglasses available should make them a fashion staple in every man’s wardrobe. Top frame styles this year include classic metal aviators, colored acetate frames, and retro round sunglasses. Colored lenses are also increasing in popularity within the mens’ sunglasses market, which offer a fresh and colorful take on more traditional designs.
Belt
A casual belt is an excellent final staple for your spring collection. Slimmer belt bands will put a warmer tone on any look, drawing contrast to the heavier bands and chunky buckles that are popular through the colder months. Woven or braided belts are great choices for a casual look, as well as belts crafted in less-than-traditional hues.
