A Weekend Getaway: What Do You Pack?

A Weekend Getaway: What Do You Pack?

Packing - Suitcase, camera, photos, fashion

There are times when the feelings of relaxation during a weekend getaway is preceded by stress from packing. It may seem simple, but having a checklist of what to bring is helpful. After all, nothing is worse than being away from home, ready to enjoy, and then realize you don't have what you need.

1. Lightweight clothes that can be layered

Take the time to check what the weather will be like during your trip and pack accordingly. It is best to take lightweight clothes because they can be layered, depending on how warm you want to be.

Pack your clothes in sets, so you don't forget anything. For example, have a bundle of clothes marked Day 1, 2, or 3. Each set should contain all that you need, from shirts to socks. It's a good method to ensure that you have everything you need.

2. Toiletries

Hotels often offer toiletries like soaps and dental kits, but that is not always the case. Even if they are available, they are rarely comparable to the products you use at home. Don't forget to pack bring your own toiletries with you, especially if you have special needs like medicated shampoo or facial washes.

3. Gadget needs

Are you going on vacation to unplug from the world? You can leave your phone behind if you want. But otherwise, pack gadgets like mobile phones, electronic book readers, and power banks with you. Don't forget to check what kind of outlets are used in the places where you are going. You might need to bring an adapter with you.

4. Sun protection

Sun protection is necessary, even if you are not going to the beach. The idea of sun protection is to block out the UV rays that can cause skin issues. These rays are present even in cold climates. Pack away a bottle of your favorite sunscreen and a pair of sunglasses to ensure that your skin is safe during your getaway.

5. Medication

Bring commonly used medicines like pain relievers, anti-allergy medication, and antacids. If you take special medication, like insulin, make sure you have enough to cover your trip. A good travel tip is to take a picture of the brand name as well as the generic name of the medicine. That way, you can easily show what you need in case of an emergency. Generic names are important because brands can possibly vary from place to place, especially when visiting different countries.

6. Appropriate footwear

Pick a comfortable shoe to wear for the journey. For example, a shoe style like the Benjamin is perfect for traveling. It is cushioned and has a rubber sole so you can travel comfortably. It is also appropriate footwear for when you go exploring the city on foot.

Then in your suitcase, pack up a dressier pair of shoes. The Karmelo, for example, can be used for when dining out or going to parties. Having two different styles of footwear with you on a trip makes sure that you are ready for various occasions.

Getaways are necessary because they recharge the mind.  But just because you go on vacation. does not mean your everyday needs goes on a break too. Pack smart so that you make the most out of your trip.
